Our History....

In the past 10 years, Scottsdale Christian Church took the steps to discover what the Church in a postmodern culture should be. Exciting music and relevant sermons are important components in our weekly worship services.

Historically, a nucleus of members from the Papago Christian Church, located on 48th Street and Holly in Phoenix, sold their property and moved to Scottsdale in July of 1957. Early worship services were held in the old Baptist Church on Indian School Road and Brown Road. The name given to the church later that year was Scottsdale Christian Church.

A few years later, the property where the current campus lies was purchased for just under $11,000. The new building, with its furnishings, was dedicated in 1963 at a cost of $97,000.

Scottsdale Christian Church's Ministry Team and Staff

Lead Minister, Brian Leonard....

Brian has been the Lead Pastor since November of 2009. He and his family moved from Columbus, Ohio where Brian served as the Senior Minister for seven years. Before that, he was the youth minister at Harvester Christian Church in St. Charles, Missouri for eight years. While there, he met and married his wife Pam and had two wonderful children; Bryson and Chloe. Brian graduated in 1993 from Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan, Kansas. He also earned a Masters of Ministry degree from Kentucky Christian College in 2002.

Brian grew up in the small town of Hugoton, Kansas. He loves to play sports, read and play chess among other games. His goal in life is to serve and build up God's church. The Leonards have felt like they moved to paradise since their relocation. Brian and Pam have led numerous marriage retreats and have been speakers at church retreats.

Everett Ross Harwood, Worship Leader and Musical Director.... Everett Harwood

Everett Ross Harwood has been the worship leader at Scottsdale Christian Church for almost 10 years and is the founder of The Christ Project (Scottsdale Christian Church's praise and worship team). It is the ultimate goal of every worship team to lead people closer to God through our gifts that He has provided. It is with true humbleness and honor that The Christ Project have had the opportunity to share this ministry with our members. The Christ Project is filled with wonderful real people that have a huge heart for God and have the greatest love for glorifying our savior in music.

Everett, a consummate songwriting artist, has been singing and writing professionally for over 25 years, touring, recording, and writing with some of the music industry’s top professionals. His songs have found their way to motion pictures, national radio and broadcast television. He has worked with a wide variety of recording artists, as well as signing a number of different music deals, with EMI being one of the pinnacles of his success. Working with the likes of Disney, Sony Records, CBS Records, EMI Records, Capitol Records, M.G.M., United Artists, Yamaha, David Spade, Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople), Mick Ronson (David Bowie), Joe Elliott (Def Leppard), Scottie Johnson (Gin Blossoms), Roy Young (Beatles, Rolling Stones), Joseph Williams (Toto), Matt Smith (MTV Real World), Dan Hill, George Crum (Canadian Ballet Symphony Orchestra Conductor), has cemented his reputation as a true musician's musician.
