Scottsdale Christian Church's Sponsored Missions

We Support the Causes We Believe In....

The Old Testament book of 1 Chronicles, Chapter 16 and verse 24 states that God “Declare(s) His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Jesus is the Savior of the world; the Whole world. The vision of Scottsdale Christian Church is a global vision. The ministries we support include our neighbors next door and those halfway around the world.

Uganda Mission....Uganda Mission Trip

For the past three years Scottsdale Christian Church has been involved in our Uganda Mission. The pastor of the ministry, we call him Godfrey, has started around 70 Churches in the last 20 years.

A group of 4 men and 2 women from Scottsdale Christian Church took part in a short-term mission trip during the summer of 2008. The trip was divided into three parts. We spent about 4 days in each of the Northern, Central, and Western Regions of the country. This brought us very close to Sudan and The Congo, both countries dealing with much unrest from political, economic, and rebel unrest. The area we traveled in the north near Sudan, which had been closed to road travel for several years, has been recently opened up by the government. There is a city in this region called Gulu, where we visited the Invisible Children camps; small villages that house refugees that were once rebel captives. We talked first hand with young men and women, who, when they were age 6-12, had been attacked, beaten, and kidnapped, then forced to enlist in rebel armies. Before escaping from the rebels, some had been enticed into beating, kidnapping, and killing their family members and others from their own villages.

In the West and Central Regions, we visited churches in the bush. It was a real privilege to worship and fellowship with so many Christians who have none of the comforts (or necessities) as we do. We presented a soccer ball to a school of 800 kids and this is the only piece of sports equipment this school now has. We filled bags with small quantities of sugar and long bars of soap and gave these items to the families of the villages. We were able to personally hand out school supplies collected from people here in the states. These things helped connect and build relationships with our churches here in America with the Churches in Uganda.

Act One Program....Act One Program

Act One trains and mentors Christians of all denominations for careers in mainstream film and television. We prepare our students to produce film and TV projects that combine mastery of craft with great depth and meaning. As a non-profit organization, we train Christians of all denominations for careers in mainstream film and television, and are wholly devoted to the professional and spiritual development of our students. We have aspiring film and television writers, and the Executive Program, for aspiring entertainment executives, in addition to many other programs and services for our alumni and the public.

Stressing artistry, excellence, professionalism, and Christian spirituality, Act One prepares students to pursue careers marked by personal integrity and professional excellence, in writers rooms, on sets, and in studio and network offices. Our goal is not to produce explicitly religious entertainment, but movie and TV projects that respect and serve the global audience, combining mastery of craft with great depth and meaning.

Act One was founded in Hollywood in 1999 by a group of Christian entertainment industry professionals who hoped that by training future screenwriters and executives who are dedicated to artistic excellence, meaning and a spirit of love and service, they might transform the content of Hollywood entertainment and the culture that produces it.

Phoenix Rescue Mission....Phoenix Rescue Mission

The Phoenix Rescue Mission is a family of people who really care about those who are less fortunate -- and who also roll up their sleeves to see that the work of caring for these people actually happens. Our family is made up of a hard-working Board of Directors who give many contributed hours each month to the policies, procedures, and spiritual conformance of the Mission's operations. Our staff is varied in talent and profession, yet are bound in their common effort and love for the people we serve and the Lord who has charged us to care for them.

Our family is blessed with thousands of donors who give of their time, goods, and funds to allow this organization to carry out our work 24 hours each day and seven days each week. We would love to have you join our family in any way your heart may lead you. There are many ways that you can help us feed, clothe, provide shelter to the homeless, and assist young families as they strive to gain the skills and self-confidence needed to become independent
and productive citizens.

Sunshine Acres Children's Home....Sunshine Acres Children's Home

The mission of Sunshine Acres is to provide a loving, wholesome, Christian home for children who are separated from their parents, and to help them establish long-term relationships with stable parental figures. We serve boys and girls of all ages. The entry age is between 5 and 15. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis. Placements are for a minimum of one year and may continue as long as needed and appropriate, even through college.

Children are accepted regardless of race, gender, religion or national origin. Sunshine Acres is a Home and we treat the children as our own. We always welcome visits from former children and their families, as our greatest joy is hearing of their success in life.

Vera Dingman, who founded Sunshine Acres with her husband, Rev. Jim Dingman in 1954, passed away on July 19, 2005. Her faith in God and loving heart are an inspiration to us all. She is dearly missed. Her legacy lives on in our staff and the lives of the boys and girls. Our home is primarily funded by private donations. Contributions are given by individuals, through the United Way, family estates, corporate, and memorial gifts. All gifts, whether they be large or small, are deeply appreciated. We do not receive any financial support from the Federal, State, or City Governments for care of the children. All donations are tax deductible and any contribution is appreciated.

Gideon's International....Gideon's International

The Gideon’s International is an interdenominational association of Christian business and professional men who are members of Protestant/Evangelical Churches. Our members are dedicated to saving the lost through personal witnessing and the distribution of God's Word in more than 180 countries around the world.

The majority of Gideon’s live and serve in their local communities, making us very effective and efficient because . . .
They know the local language and customs

They know where the hotels, schools, prisons, hospitals and other locations where Scriptures need to be placed

Sometimes, we're able to establish local groups of Gideon’s in countries where traditional missionaries aren't allowed to go
